2026 Cultural & Studio Recommendations
The following recommendations are intended to help ensure a smooth and comfortable journey.
Financial Preparation
Participants are encouraged to bring a debit card to withdraw Mexican pesos from local ATMs, which typically provide competitive exchange rates.
When prompted at the ATM, please decline currency conversion to U.S. dollars and select to be charged in Mexican pesos.
Major restaurants and hotels accept credit cards; however, local markets and artisan studios often operate on a cash basis.
Kindly notify your bank and credit card provider of international travel dates prior to departure.
Please check whether your credit card charges foreign transaction fees.
Attire & Studio Considerations
Comfortable walking shoes are essential due to cobblestone streets and uneven surfaces.
Lightweight layers are recommended, as mornings and evenings may be cool while afternoons are warm.
Sun protection (hat and sunscreen) is advised.
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for studio work.
Materials
Core workshop materials will be provided.
Participants may bring preferred personal tools, brushes, or sketchbooks.
A small notebook for observations and studies during site visits is encouraged.
Health & Well-Being
Oaxaca sits at approximately 5,000 feet above sea level; hydration and moderate pacing during the first days are recommended.
Please bring any necessary personal medications.
A reusable water bottle is advisable.
Communication
WhatsApp will be used for daily communication and scheduling updates.
We look forward to a meaningful week of artistic practice, cultural engagement, and shared exploration.
